In the years immediately following Slovakia's accession to the European Union in 2004, the country's competition landscape was dominated by merger work, normally handled by offshoots of firms' corporate teams. With most mergers now heading to Brussels, Slovakia's Anti-Monopoly Office is finally free to investigate harmful behaviour. Enjoying the new activity is a handful of law firms which have honed their skills handling merger notification.
