The more things change, the more they stay the same. In the past two years Bratislava has lost both Linklaters’ and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer’s competition practices, while new firms have entered the market from the Czech Republic and Austria. Other firms have merged and old powerhouses seem to have scaled down operations. And yet, amongst all this upheaval, competition cases are still largely managed by the same handful of individuals, very few of whom spend more than about 60 per cent of their time on such matters
