Austria's Federal Competition Authority is one of the smallest agencies in Rating Enforcement. With a non-administrative staff of just 24 employees and a meagre budget of €2.4 million, the authority has no choice but to make a little go a long way. Last year, it reviewed 54 merger filings, seven of which required an in-depth investigation. Two of those cases were challenged before eventually being resolved with remedies. In the other five cases, the parties withdrew the merger filings.
