Mark Berry took over as head of New Zealand's Commerce Commission in 2008. Practitioners say that under Berry's direction, the commission continues to be a well-run authority, with an impeccable reputation for independence. The authority has worked hard to improve its merger and behavioural processes during 2009. "The commission has gone out to interested parties to consult on aspects of its practice and procedure in an attempt to enhance and improve its processes, as well as its relationship with the commercial community," says one competition specialist.
