Portugal's Competition Authority delivered another steady performance in 2009. In the six years since it was established, the authority's ranks have swelled to include 77 competition enforcers among a total staff of 94. Its €9.1 million budget means the enforcer has greater resources at its disposal than counterparts in similar-sized jurisdictions, including Belgium, Greece and Hungary. The staff is also relatively experienced - on average, employees are 41 years old and have spent 10 years working in competition enforcement.
