Christiana Vitale

Lear - Laboratorio di economia, antitrust, regolamentazione

Cristiana Vitale has been a senior consultant at Lear since 2005. Previously, Cristiana spent seven years working in the UK, first as a consultant at London Economics and then as an economic adviser for the Office for Communication (Oftel/Ofcom) and the Office of Fair Trading (OFT). In these roles Cristiana contributed to major regulatory interventions in the telecoms and media sector and the implementation of the EU Directives on the telecommunications markets. She was also involved in many competition cases, market reviews and market studies. Since joining Lear, Cristiana has managed two studies for the European Commission, one on the ex-post evaluation of merger control decisions and another that consisted in developing an empirical methodology for the evaluation of the effectiveness of different competition policy regimes in deterring anti-competitive behaviours and fostering productivity. She has advised a number of cases of alleged cartels and abuses of dominance, as well as on concentrations, in a variety of sectors, assisting, among others, Shell, Unilever, Wind, RTI and Procter. She has also contributed to a project on the assessment of the cost of erroneous antitrust interventions for the OFT. Cristiana graduated in Economics at the Bocconi University in Milan and has an MSc from the London School of Economics. Since 2003 she has been lecturing in the Masters in Competition and Regulation at the University 'Federico II' in Naples.
