Mofcom clears pharma merger

China’s Ministry of Commerce (Mofcom) has cleared the US$47.9 billion acquisition of Texas-based pharmaceutical company Alcon by Switzerland's Novartis, subject to conditions in the markets for eye medication and contact lenses.
