The head of Portugal’s Competition Authority says that while the country’s new competition law will help speed up enforcement and bring the law in line with European standards, there could be more significant changes on the horizon.

Portugal’s Competition Authority has fined Portugal Telecom €53 million for abuse of dominance in the broadband internet market in 2002 and 2003. It is the largest fine ever imposed by the authority.
