ACCC blocks Metcash/Franklins supermarket deal

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) yesterday rejected grocery company Metcash Trading’s proposed acquisition of supermarket Franklins, claiming the tie-up could lead to a “substantial lessening of competition” in the wholesale grocery supply market.
