Germany’s Federal Cartel Office says it will prohibit fuel sector mergers to protect competition in a market it says is controlled by a “dominant oligopoly” of five companies.

The Directorate General of Greece's Competition Commission approved a merger between British Petroleum’s Greek operations and Hellenic Petroleum on condition that the companies sell part of their retail operations.
