Brazil’s Council for Economic Defence (CADE) has today issued its highest ever fine of 2.9 billion reais (€1.3 billion) to five industrial gas manufacturers for alleged long-term cartel activity.

New Zealand takes up freight forwarding litigation

New Zealand’s Commerce Commission has today filed cartel proceedings against several companies in the air freight forwarding sector at the High Court in Auckland. It has reached settlements with two defendants.

Morgan Stanley settles municipal bond litigation

Investment bank Morgan Stanley has agreed to pay a multi-million dollar settlement to end its involvement in an antitrust class action alleging that it conspired with rival banks to rig bids for municipal bonds sold to city, state and other local governments.
