Olavo Chinaglia will act as interim head until a new president is appointed

Olavo Chinaglia delivered his first press conference as interim president of Brazil’s Council for Economic Defence (CADE) today. As commissioner, he will oversee the critical period before significant changes to Brazil’s antitrust law come into effect on 29 May.

Argentina opens oil investigation

Argentina’s National Commission for the Defence of Competition has opened an investigation of the country’s five largest oil companies for fixing the price of fuel.

Supreme Court upholds first Chile bid-rigging fine

Friday, 13 January

Chile’s Supreme Court has upheld the National Competition Tribunal’s fine of Radio Bio-Bio, rejecting appeals from both the National Economic Prosecutor’s Office (FNE) and the radio station itself.
