Flavia Distefano is a partner in the Brussels office of K&L Gates. Her practice focuses on antitrust and competition law, particularly on cartel investigations, other antitrust behavioral matters and merger control. Flavia has represented multi-national companies in some landmark cases before the European Commission and the Italian competition authority, including phase II merger cases and major cartel proceedings. She has particular experience in the chemicals, metals and energy industries. Flavia regularly advises companies and trade associations on specific-sector related antitrust issues and on a range of regulatory matters, in particular those arising from compliance with REACH, biocide and pesticide regulations, the EU energy liberalization and climate change packages, and other EU environmental legislation. She also has significant experience litigating before the European Courts in Luxembourg.

Flavia joined K&L Gates in 2011 after practising competition law and litigation in Brussels since 1995, including with other American law firms. She has contributed to various publications on competition law and is an active member of the International Bar Association's antitrust committee and of the American Bar Association's antitrust law section. Flavia was recognized in the Best Lawyers in Belgium 2010 and 2011 lists in the area of Litigation/Antitrust. She is a member of the Rome Bar and an associate member of the Brussels Bar.
