Barry Zalmanowitz
Barry Zalmanowitz is managing partner of the Edmonton branch of Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP (FMC), and co-chair of the firm’s national competition law group. Barry’s practice focuses on competition and antitrust law, providing both advisory services and representation in litigation and administrative law hearings. He represents clients in all aspects of the Competition Act, including mergers and notifiable transactions, obtaining pre-merger clearances from the Competition Bureau, proceedings before the Competition Tribunal in contested merger cases, conspiracy, deceptive marketing and other criminal and civil provisions of the Act, private damage actions, reviewable practices and misleading advertising. Barry also advises clients with respect to compliance with the Investment Canada Act. He has been a member of the executive committee of the National Competition Law Section of the Canadian Bar Association since 2003 and is currently immediate past chair. Barry has also been a sessional lecturer (competition law) at the University of Alberta Faculty of Law. He was admitted to the Alberta Bar in 1980.
